Education

Education is the basis for the development of a society.

Education is a transformative element in people’s lives that generates changes and opportunities, improves living conditions, and provides alternatives for survival. Additionally, through education, we transmit values that help us build a more just, equal, dynamic, and diverse society.

In Burkina Faso, despite the progress made in recent years, education still faces many challenges

- The population is very young, resulting in a much higher number of children than the existing infrastructure can accommodate: overcrowded classrooms, insufficient teaching staff, lack of space, poor hygiene conditions, lack of light, water, and school supplies.

- The disconnect between educational administration and the reality of teachers often leads to conflicts that negatively affect the school environment..

- Teacher training is deficient, and teaching is not considered a valued or adequately compensated profession.

The primary school enrollment rate was already 81.3% in 2018, but the situation was different in secondary education: only 42.8% of children were able to attend high school.

Our goal is to contribute to improving education in Burkina by incentivizing good academic performance and providing young people with the opportunity to develop a profession.

CAT SYA embraces the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for 2030, and our aim is to enable boys and girls to become self-reliant and responsible individuals for their own future.

Areas of Action

CAT SYA focuses the education improvement program on the following points:

Scholar reinforcement for sponsored children and girls without resources.
Hygiene and climate change awareness
Training in trades for women and children who have been left out of the education system.
Basic computer science for students and teachers.
Assistance in infrastructure: school gardens, installation of solar panels, well repairs, provision of computers, basic construction such as warehouses and hangars, etc.
